CHEF/PARTNER-MARVIN WOODS

Renowned veteran of the restaurant and hospitality industries, Chef Marvin Woods is an Emmy Award-nominated television host, author and contributor to Michelle Obama's Let's Move cooking series. He has built a career that establishes himself as one of the foremost chefs on southern cuisine. Woods' interpretation of southern cooking will be presented in an eclectic spin on traditional Gullah-Geechie cuisine and southern comfort food.

Drawing from his passion for authentic flavors and the diverse cultural influences in the region, Chef Woods' menu will focus on the roots of southern and Gullah culinary traditions.

Gullah Expert/Chef Consultant- Charlotte Jenkins

Born and raised on Gullah cuisine, she has been cooking southern soul foods since she was nine years old. It was not until she moved to New York and started entertaining guests in her home that she re-ignited her love and appreciation of Gullah culture and cuisine. Jenkins' first stint was catering. While catering throughout the Lowcountry, customers suggested they wanted to eat Jenkins’ food more often.

Charlotte, a graduate of Johnson & Wales School of Culinary Arts, took a risk on creating a Gullah-themed eatery. In 1997 she, along with her husband Frank opened the Gullah Cuisine Restaurant, continuing to operate CJ's Catering Service. A huge local success, Gullah Cuisine generated national interest. The Washington Post, NY Times, Gourmet, and Southern Living have all tapped into what is going on in the kitchen at Gullah Cuisine.

In effort to share Gullah cooking and culture with others, Charlotte embarked on a cookbook venture by authoring her first book Gullah Cuisine: By Land and By Sea.

BOURBON

Gentry Bourbon encompasses the best of both worlds, with smooth hints of vanilla, oak char and caramel in the palette. Finishing with a light touch of warmth and citrus that is reminiscent of 20 year old specialty bourbons.
